Bangalore vs Pune vs Hyderabad Salaries in 2026: The Premium Shrank. It Didn’t Die.

Hyderabad led AI/ML hiring growth. Pune is still the value city. Bangalore still prints the ceiling.

Remote work compressed city gaps. It did not delete them.

For a Pune-baseline senior engineer, we still plan:

  • Bengaluru: about 1.15–1.30×
  • Hyderabad: about 1.10–1.15×
  • Pune: 1.0×
  • Chennai / NCR: often a little under or around Pune depending on employer

Naukri JobSpeak’s August 2026 AI/ML city split is the plot twist: Hyderabad +48%, Mumbai +36%, Bengaluru / Chennai / Pune each about +31%. Hiring *growth* is not the same as hiring *pay*. Hyderabad is catching demand. Bangalore still has the thickest right tail — the ₹50L+ offers that distort averages.

How to read a relocation number

A 12% Bangalore bump that disappears after rent and a two-hour commute is not a raise. A Hyderabad GCC seat at +8% cash with a shorter day can be the better life, even if LinkedIn thinks Bangalore won.

Tier-2 GCC satellites complicate this further: Taggd-style 2026 notes still show tier-2 senior bands below tier-1 (think ₹3060 LPA vs ₹4590 LPA at the extreme), but entry bands are moving up as captives staff AI and cyber outside the old metros.

Ask for the city in writing. Some “India remote” roles are Bangalore-pegged pay with Pune living costs. Some are the reverse. That difference is a whole appraisal.
