Semiconductor and Chip Jobs in India 2026: Small Pool, Sharp Pay

Chennai and Bangalore captives are hungry. The interview is not a web-dev interview with a nicer canteen.

India’s GCC story has a quieter chapter: chip design, verification, and EDA. It does not hire like IT services. The pool is small, the interviews are long, and the pay — when you clear — sits in the same scarce bucket TeamLease reserved for ₹50L+ niche resets.

I would not tell a Java ADM engineer to “switch to semiconductors this weekend.” I would tell a VLSI / embedded / firmware person who has been underpriced in services to test GCC and product captives in Chennai and Bangalore this quarter.

What hiring managers want: waves, timing, verification coverage, silicon bring-up stories. Not “I learned Verilog on Udemy.”

If that is your background and you are still on a 6% services letter, you are in one of the few 2026 markets where the gap is obvious and the demand is not imaginary.
