Cybersecurity Salaries in India Are Quietly Outrunning Generic Dev

Zinnov’s 2026 GCC hike for cyber is ~20%. The catch is proof, not a CEH screenshot.

Cyber did not get a consumer brand like “GenAI.” It got a budget.

Zinnov’s 2026 GCC compensation cut listed cybersecurity salary increases around 20% — in the same sentence as AI/ML at ~21% and cloud at ~16%. Foundit grouped AI, cloud, and cyber as the cluster taking most specialised tech demand (their “about 65%” line).

That is a hiring signal, not a promise that a two-week certificate doubles CTC.

What actually prices

  • cloud security and identity (the breach is usually IAM, not Hollywood)
  • detection engineering and incident work you can narrate
  • appsec that developers will listen to
  • OT / payments / healthcare domain, if you have it

A 5–8 year security engineer in a Bengaluru GCC often sits in the same conversation as a strong platform engineer — ₹28–45 LPA is a planning band, not a guarantee. Services cyber can still look like a slightly better ADM number.

If you are a backend engineer thinking of switching: one owned security outcome (SSO rollout, vuln SLAs, a tabletop you ran) beats five badges. The market is paying for people who reduce risk, not people who collect logos.
